Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 26-year-old female and my periods were delayed for two months. After which I got my periods, which lasted for more than 15 days. I consulted my doctor who prescribed M-pause. So my periods have stopped after taking those pills. I recently had unprotected sex on the next day itself after my periods stopped. We are not sure if he had ejaculated some amount inside or not. Do I have to take an I-pill? Also I read that taking I-pill might cause vomiting. In such a case do I have to take another pill?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

As such you have a minimal chance for conceiving as you are not menstruating regularly which means that you are not ovulating. Moreover, it is truly impossible to get a pregnancy if you had sex just after the stoppage of cycle. So, as you can see, no need to take an I-pill (Levonorgestrel).

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

That was very helpful. Is it fine to take the I-pill just in case of safety?

Glad to have you back!

You can take the I-pill but this could cause some amount of spotting or delayed next cycle. This is due to the hormonal nature of the pill.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I observed that I had white discharge . So I took Unwanted-72 tablet.

Glad to have you back!

White discharge so early is never a symptom of pregnancy. However, keep yourself protected by a regular birth control pill if you need so.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I have taken Unwanted-72 pill within 48 hours. I have not experienced any nausea or such side effects. It is been 10 days but I still have not got any withdrawal periods. I started having little cramps from the day I took the pill. Also I have no white discharge. Please let me know if spotting is mandatory after taking a contraceptive pill?

Glad to have you back!

It is neither essential nor mandatory to have withdrawal bleeding following an I-pill nor does its appearance means you are protected. The main component is two points. First, whether you took it within 72 hours, and second you must not have any unprotected sex afterward. If you can ensure these two, I reassure you that there is no risk regarding pregnancy. Forget about the bleeding as I can see you have taken the pill just after the stoppage of your previous cycle. Bleeding does not occur if you take the pill just after the natural cycle and as I told you, it is not mandatory.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
