Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have noticeable gaps between my teeth, and around seven to eight of my teeth are affected by germs or cavities. Brushing for more than a minute causes bleeding, and at times, I experience unbearable pain. My local dentist recommended caps. However, my family is suggesting basic home treatments like using specific toothpaste for brushing. While I understand my teeth are not in great condition, I am uncertain if home remedies alone can significantly improve the situation. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed your query and understand your concerns.

The gap between your teeth may be a result of cavities. Unfortunately, dental cavities cannot be treated without restoration. If a cavity is present, it tends to progress without intervention. Bleeding gums often indicate improper oral hygiene. Given that you are only 18 years old, I strongly suggest you seek treatment to preserve your natural teeth. Consider visiting dental colleges, where quality treatment is available under expert guidance at a more affordable cost. Alternatively, you can explore government dental services.

Feel free to ask if you have any further questions or need additional assistance.

Thank you.

Regards.

Investigations to be done

X-rays of carious teeth.

Probable diagnosis

1. Dental caries. 2. Chronic marginal gingivitis.

Treatment plan

1. Restoration. 2. Scaling (cleaning teeth by a dentist) every six months.

Preventive measures

1. Brush twice regularly for two minutes using the modified bass technique. 2. Floss regularly. 3. Avoid sweet or snack intake between meals.
