Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 40-year-old female with severe depression due to my child's mischievous activities in school. He gets regularly scolded by his teachers. I am unable to handle this naughty boy. How to make him obedient? Kindly help me to come out of depression.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

Parenting is not an easy task and requires tremendous effort. You need to find the reason for your son's mischievous activity. Try to know more about his friends and colleagues and see if they are as mischievous as him. If there is any disturbance in the family, then try to improve it. The atmosphere of the home must be calm and peaceful. Since children learn from elders at home by copying their behaviors. A strict and rigid behavior at home may provoke him to be mischievous at other places like school or with relatives. When the eldest person respects others, the child learns from them. Hence, do not punish him but teach and acknowledge him for his wrong behavior.

You can follow these steps to overcome depression:

  1. Exercise and meditate regularly to calm and uplift your mood.
  2. Eat healthy food.
  3. Avoid any type of substance abuse like alcohol or smoking.
  4. Be confident.
  5. Sleep for adequate hours.

I hope that your query was resolved, and any further queries are welcome.

Thank you.
