Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been feeling depressed for a year after separating from my husband. I also feel constant fear of people and have very low self-confidence. My doctor has advised me to take one tablet of Escitalopram 20 mg and one tablet of Paroxetine 12 mg daily in the morning. My medical history includes depression, social anxiety, and a generalized fear of various things. However, there are times when I still feel depressed and anxious, especially when I think about my 1-year-old child and my future. What should I do?

Hello,

I am delighted you turned to icliniq.com with your medical-related questions.

I can certainly relate to your worries, and will do my best to assist.

First of all, I would like to mention that sometimes you do not have control over situations and what others do, but what matters is how you cope with it. Medications require two to three weeks to exert effects, and if that much time has passed, you can discuss with your treating psychiatrist regarding substituting Paroxetine. Besides that, there are certain things that can help:

  1. Meditation daily for at least half an hour in the morning can help you relax and ease your anxiety.
  2. Follow a flexible routine, exercise regularly, and maintain a balanced diet rich in antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids.
  3. Allocate at least one hour daily for your hobbies.
  4. Ensure you get a good night's sleep and avoid caffeine.
  5. Share your feelings with family or close friends, as sharing helps a lot.
  6. Remember that every problem has a solution; you just need to try solving it, and help is just a step away.

Thank you.

I hope you had a pleasant experience with icliniq.

I will always be available for you in case you have any queries.
