Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 18-year-old girl. I was in love with my teacher in school for two years. He might have loved me. But he gradually stopped talking to me. One of my best friends even left me. I cry every day and feel depressed. After that year he joined another school. I now feel that I am suffering from depersonalization. I feel that I do not belong in this world anymore. I keep thinking of him always. I even stopped enjoying the things that I once used to. I am afraid that I may go mad. This has affected me negatively. I feel people lack souls. At times, I forget things and lose focus. Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Do not think too much and build up on one negative aspect and on another. In many cases, psychology is pretty simple and the negative thoughts complicate the simple psychological explanation. Do not make the situation complicated just by overthinking negatively about it. Losing someone dear and near naturally causes grief. Especially when it is from an intimate love and lust relationship. Grief leads to disappointment. Grief-related disappointment manifests symptoms as in the case of depression. But disappointment symptoms are far shorter in duration than depression. These symptoms will vanish in some days or weeks. The depersonalization disorder you refer to here is simply wild imagination. Mood swings, depression, negative thoughts, suicidal thoughts, etc. are parts of this. The more you worry about these symptoms, the more these symptoms will follow you. Give it a month's time to slowly dissipate itself. Do not worry. I suggest you get involved in physical exercise, outdoor games, entertainment, hobbies, etc. This could help you divert your attention. I also suggest cognitive therapy.

I hope this information will help you. Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
