Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 39-year-old male weighing 209.44 pounds and 160 cm tall. I have felt tensed and fearful for the past month. I can not sleep properly and feel very weak in the morning. I also have a mild headache when I wake up. My blood pressure has been slightly high the last week, and I do not want to take medication for it. My sex life is also being affected because of this. I am not able to have a proper erection. I have been taking drumstick leaves juices for the last two days, and have been able to sleep well. But I still have mild headaches and tiredness in the morning. I also have a heavy heartbeat sometimes. I had taken a sugar test, which was normal. However, my blood pressure levels remain to be high. Please advise me.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to Icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Kindly screen yourself for clinical depression and anxiety disorder. Do a self-rating test, which you can easily find on the internet. If it is indicative of moderate to severe depression or anxiety disorder, I suggest you consult a psychiatrist in person for detailed evaluation and treatment. The spikes in blood pressure, heartbeat problems, and even erection problems can all be due to anxiety disorder. Your BMI (body mass index) is also high and needs to be taken care of. Some simple tips that can be of help:

1. Avoid caffeinated drinks and cold drinks.

2. Exercise regularly and eat a balanced diet.

3. Meditating daily for at least half an hour in the morning helps you relax, ease your anxiety, and also helps with headaches.

4. A modified Mediterranean diet has been shown to be helpful.

5. Progressive muscular relaxation also helps.

Remember every problem has a solution you just need to try solving it and help is just a step away.

I hope this information will help you. Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.

Investigations to be done

The following investigations need to be done: 1. Thyroid function test (TFT). 2. Psychological testing. 3 Serum electrolytes.

Differential diagnosis

The differential diagnosis can be:

1. Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD).

2. Major depressive disorder (MDD).

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
