Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a problem getting disheartened and depressed in any difficult situation and feel suffocated in my heart and brain. I am not able to tackle the situation and start to cry and cannot talk boldly with my voice. Though I am not an under-confident girl but often lose confidence in an uneasy situation. I am not from a very rich background and so I overthink every small situation. Kindly suggest some tips to gain mental peace as this is increasing with age.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

First of all, I would like to mention that sometimes you do not have control over the situations and what others do but what matters is how you cope with it. Some simple steps that can be of help:

  • Meditation daily for at least half an hour in the morning helps you relax and focus and eases your anxiety.

  • Follow a flexible routine exercise regularly and take a balanced diet rich in antioxidants and omega fatty acids.

  • Practice assertiveness. Start with politely saying no to the things you are not comfortable with.

  • Maintain a journal and daily log down your thoughts. Retrospect them, put them down to logic, and try to change them. If you feel anxious try to restructure your breathing.

  • Give at least one hour daily for your hobbies to vent out your daily stress.

  • If these methods do not help consult a psychiatrist or a clinical psychologist in person for detailed evaluation and treatment if needed.

Remember every problem has a solution you just need to try solving it and help is just a step away. I hope you find this helpful.

Thank you.
