Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been taking Desvenlafaxine for anxiety and I was just prescribed the medicine two weeks back. I have been having consistent stabbing heart pain that comes and goes but lasts for minutes at a time. I went and checked my blood pressure and it was high and I was told that I have hypertension. I have been feeling nauseous, experiencing headaches, and feeling dizzy. Should I go to a hospital to get myself checked in case I need blood pressure pills? I am a female and will be 20 years old in a month. I also have thyroid issues and I am taking Synthroid for it. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

We are elated to have you on board at icliniq.

Based on the information that you have provided, the tablet Desvenlafaxine can sometimes cause side effects such as heart palpitations, high blood pressure, and dizziness. It is also possible that these symptoms could be indicative of other underlying health issues. It is important to note that high blood pressure, also known as hypertension, can be a serious health concern if left untreated, as it increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, and other complications. If you are experiencing consistent symptoms of high blood pressure, such as headaches, dizziness, and chest pain, it is best to seek medical help in person.

In the meantime, it is important to continue taking your medications as prescribed by your healthcare provider and to maintain a healthy lifestyle, which includes doing regular exercise, maintaining a balanced diet, and following stress management techniques. If you are experiencing severe or persistent symptoms, such as chest pain or shortness of breath, it is best to seek emergency medical care.

I wish you good health.

Thank you.
