Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have diabetes from the last two years. I take medicine Glimepiride 2 mg before breakfast and Metformin 500 mg after meal twice daily. But my routine blood sugar is fasting 220 mg/dL and random 320 mg/dL or above. Can I increase my dose of Glimepiride?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Looking at your blood sugar levels, it looks like you definitely need to increase the dosage of your medication. There are three options. Increase dosage of Metformin, increase dosage of Glimepiride and add a new drug to the current regimen. A review of medication is ideally done only after a proper examination by a doctor. Your medication is chosen based on numerous factors like age, weight, blood pressure, renal condition, cardiac health, etc. I suggest you meet your specialist doctor to receive the correct treatment.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
