What can be the reason for loose, watery, and greenish stools?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Three days back, I ate meat ramen. Nothing was fishy at that moment, but as two days passed, I felt a mild cramping pain in my stomach today. I then had a zero sugar soft drink thinking the gas in it would resolve my stomach pain as I thought I had some bloating. But then the pain did not resolve, and after two hours, I passed loose, watery, greenish stools. I would have passed at least three times today, and I feel I still would pass. What has happened to me? I suspect it to be some food poison. Because after that meat noodle, I had a burrito the next day, some pasta, and pizza. Everything had some meat in them, so I was confused about which food was the cause. I also had alcohol all three nights. What should I do now? I feel extremely weak and have been drinking only water. Whatever I eat, I throw up. I already have vomited twice today. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Whatever be the cause, you do have a stomach infection or acute gastroenteritis and need antibiotics for a minimum of three days now. I suggest you take

1) Tablet Ofloxacin 200 mg plus

2) Tablet Orindazole 500 mg twice daily,

3) Tablet Dicycloverine 500 mg twice daily

4) Tablet Pantop DSR (Domperidone 30 mg and pantoprazole 40 mg) once before breakfast for three days.

Drink one liter ORS (oral rehydration solution) daily and eat simple foods like soups, rice, etc., for three days, with no meat.

Regards.
