Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been suffering from hypothyroidism for the past five years. I am taking one Thyronorm 50 mcg tablet every day morning before breakfast and one Matilda AF tablet during dinner after food. Recently I went to a doctor with joint pains and knee pains. The doctor prescribed Mylan-Naproxen/Esomeprazole SR two tablets a day - the morning after breakfast and night after dinner. Please let me know if I need to take any other precautions, and also let me know if any of the above medications have interaction-related issues with each other. I really appreciate any help you can provide.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

There are no noted drug interactions for the above tablets. I would suggest the following precautions for knee pain:

1) Activities that cause pain should be avoided temporarily.

2) If the knee is swollen or sore, the following positions and activities should be avoided until knee pain and swelling resolve - squatting, kneeling, twisting and pivoting, jogging, aerobics, dancing, and playing sport.

3) You should wear a knee cap for support to the knee joint. Wear it all day, and you can remove it at night.

4) Apply ice packs twice daily for 15 minutes each.

5) You need to get an x-ray of both knee joints.

I would be able to help you further after looking at the X-rays.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
