Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had overdosed on multiple medicines two years back, which included eight iron tablets on two occasions, 16 tablets of Avil 25 mg, and SSRI twice, all on different occasions. Two years back, my SGPT was 106 months after my last overdose incident, and my creatinine was 1.2. Since then, my SGPT has been 12 to 15 and creatinine 0.6. My BUN is 6. Do you think I have damaged my liver and kidney?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
It seems you had an overdose of a few medicines two years back. This will usually cause transient damage to your liver and kidney. These organs will recover completely if there is no underlying inherent disease for them. You need to avoid any further occurrences like this. Nothing to worry about as of now. Keep a close watch to avoid any unnecessary medications and foods which can give these organs a hit. Avoid alcohol, unnecessary painkillers, over-the-counter medications, etc. When did you do a liver function test and kidney function test last? If not done in the last six months, do get it done.
Patient's Query
Thank you, doctor.
I had a USG, which shows a scar on the right kidney and liver normal. I got my LFT done the last month, which showed SGPT as 10, SGOT 14, creatinine 0.7, BUN 7, PT 15 with control being 14, ammonia was 56, with 47 being the upper range.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Nothing to worry. All the labs are fine. The ultrasound is alright. You can relax now. Please follow the precautions suggested earlier.
Good luck.
