Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing sharp needle prick pain in my left ear for the past two days, which is not constant. I get cold twice a month. Could this pain be a ear infection? Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query. I understand your concern. This can be eustachian tube dysfunction. The eustachian tube connects the ear and nose. This tube gets blocked and can cause ear blockage, ear pain, and ringing sound in the ear. For this, nasal decongestant drops and antihistamines can be used. You can also do steam inhalation and eustachian tube patency exercises like the Valsalva and Toynbee maneuvers. Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them and take medications with their consent. Also, do you have a cold, nose block, or sneezing now? I hope this has helped you. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
