Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had headaches and feelings of pressure all around my head. I have had pain in my sinuses, ear, and back of my head for the last six months with no relief for a single day. I have spoken to my doctor three times. He first diagnosed it as a sinus infection and was prescribed antibiotics. They offered no relief and symptoms were unchanged in frequency and severity. On my second examination, the doctor prescribed a nasal spray. I believe it was a corticosteroid spray. I used the spray as intended and it offered no relief. The symptoms were unchanged in frequency or severity. On my third visit, I was told to use a nasal rinse with a corticosteroid solution mixed with the saline solution. I used the nasal rinse and there was no change in symptoms. During the use of the nasal rinse, there was no discharge that was cleared.

My doctor has made an appointment for an ENT but it is still one month away. I rarely go to doctors for issues as they have usually resolved themselves within two weeks. This issue has been ongoing for the last six months. The issues seem to progressively get worse. My left arm goes numb very quickly, and my hands feel numb if I exert myself physically. I have been having issues with memory. I forget things I did two to five minutes ago, and my head feels foggy all the time. I do not know what is going on, and it is debilitating. I only want to sleep because it offers me a reprieve from this pressure and head pain. I do not know what is going on and it is really frustrating. On a side note, I am not sure if this matters, but when I was of age 13 or 14, I was hit by a vehicle while standing on the sidewalk and suffered head trauma to my frontal bone. I do not know if past head trauma can affect you in the future. I am a 36-year-old now. Perhaps you can help me understand what is going on so that I can explain my issues to the ENT and he can help?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Actually, your symptoms might be associated with past trauma, because the opening of the nasal cavity comes from the frontal bone only and you had a fracture there. That is why there can be some drainage from the frontal sinus, causing you such symptoms. Please tell your ENT (ear, nose, and throat) specialist about your past trauma in detail, if you have your previous reports then show them. Another reason can be hypertension for such headaches. So please do check your blood pressure once. What is your blood pressure usually? Please let me know.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
