Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have taken tablet Unwanted 72 for the first time within 20 minutes of sex. I have the feeling of vomiting, chest pain and I am feeling sleepy too. Is this normal? Can I get pregnant?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have reviewed your query. Unwanted 72 is an emergency postcoital contraceptive pill containing Levonorgestrel. Though it is effective within 72 hours after intercourse, it is very active when it is taken immediately after sex. As you have taken within 20 minutes, you will be having higher efficiency and a very little chance of getting pregnant but, not a zero percent chance. Because even this tablet also has a minimal failure rate of 0.3 to 2 percent taken within 72 hours.
Do not worry much but you need to keep track of your expected date of periods and get a pregnancy test done if the periods are delayed. Regarding the symptoms you are experiencing, chest pain is unlikely to occur after taking Unwanted 72. But vomiting and sleepiness are quite common side effects.
For more information consult an internal medicine physician online.
