Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I just want to ask that where can I buy an EC pill? I had unprotected sex last night at 12 AM and I want an emergency contraceptive but I do not know what to buy and where to buy it.

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You can have Levonorgestrel 1500 mg emergency contraception orally but if you have epilepsy or any medications that you are using, then dose would be higher 3000 mg. This is the original name and many brands are available for it. It should be taken within 48 to 72 hours of unprotected sex, without vomiting and with proper dose as I advised above. I hope you will get it; another contraceptive that you can use is copper-containing intrauterine device but it needs to be inserted and can cover up to 120 hours post-sex. You can have regular cyclic combined oral contraception cyclically from withdrawal bleed.

Take care.
