Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 19 years old and have had a poor erection for the past three months. My penis erects once or twice per day, but the erection is poor. What is causing it, and what is the best treatment for it? Can it heal by itself?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Thank you for stopping by!

I am here to provide expert opinions on your medical issues.

I can understand your concern about your symptoms. According to your complaints, you may be suffering from erectile dysfunction. The reasons for erectile dysfunction (ED) are:

  1. Stress due to work or family-related or night duties - plan for regular exercise and yoga.
  2. Depression.
  3. Varicocele – Ultrasound scrotum can help diagnose it.
  4. Fear of failure - Having one episode of erectile dysfunction may make you feel you will end up with erectile dysfunction.
  5. Low self-esteem (chronic masturbation).
  6. Homosexuality – Not attracted to the same sex.
  7. Religious constraints.
  8. Smoking and alcohol.
  9. Long-term illness – Cardiac disease, thyroid disease, kidney disease, or any other disease with long-term medication.
  10. Simple vitamin deficiency – You can use tablets Zincovit (vitamins and minerals) and Shelcal (calcium and vitamin D3) after consulting your specialist doctor.
  11. Negative attitude towards your partner.
  12. Hormonal issue – Thyroid issue, low testosterone, and increased prolactin.
  13. Long-term drug usage.
  14. Diabetes and hypertension.
  15. Need to check Doppler penis, ultrasound pelvis, and scrotum, blood pressure, RBS (random blood sugar), free T3 and T4, Testosterone, and TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone). Share more details regarding the above reasons, and we can work on diagnosis and treatment. You need to plan for regular exercise and a proper diet.

    1. List of exercises: Basic exercises like Kegels, squats, yoga, running, or brisk walking for five minutes. Other exercises for better sex like planks, push-ups, mountain climbing, glute bridges, bicep curls, pull-ups, jump squats, walking lunges, and leg raises.
    2. Include foods like strawberries, apples, avocados, sweet potatoes, sesame seeds, almonds, garlic, and a little chocolate.
    3. For a temporary solution, you can use the tablet Mildfil (Tadalafil) 5 mg twice a day after consulting your specialist doctor.
    4. Hope this helps.

      Thank you.
