Is it possible to conceive with fertility medicines?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had a follicular scan four times for the last time; I had ovulated on the 18th day after giving a human chorionic gonadotropin injection on the 15th day. So for the past ten days, I have been taking Estradiol 2 mg twice a day, and from the 24th day, my gynecologist suggested taking Dydrogesterone 10 mg twice daily for ten days. Is it possible for me to conceive this month successfully?

Please suggest any success stories which will be helpful for people like us.

Thank you

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Please share your detailed obstetrics gynecology medical, and drug history with me. It seems you have been treated for a fertility issue.Things seem normal at present.

1.Have complete checks and regular treatment for any medical health issue; if you should have normal sugar levels, and thyroid function tests should be normal with medications if you have issues.

2. Have Folic Acid 0.4 mg daily if you have a normal body mass index and no medical issues, But if you have any issues or a high body mass index, then have 5 mg daily and also consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them and take medications with their consent.

3. Continue Dydrogesterone in a few patients who have been on Metformin Hydrochloride or Dydrogesterone before pregnancy and have been trying for pregnancy; then this is advice to continue till pregnancy establishes well.

4. Have a serum beta-human chorionic gonadotropin blood pregnancy test after the expected date of periods if periods do not come.

5. Have a healthy diet, try to be busy, think positively, and relax in some recreational activity.

In case of a positive pregnancy test with mike spotting even and pain, especially one-sided, better to report a tertiary care gynecology emergency.

Kindly follow up for further assistance.

Thank you.
