Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I think I am addicted to masturbating. This pattern has been ongoing since I was 18 years old, and I am currently 41 years old. Medical tests, including blood work, ECG, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and temperature, have all shown normal results. This has been impacting various aspects of my life, including work, social interactions, daily activities, and even sleep. I find myself engaging in this behavior excessively, sometimes up to ten times a day, and it has started affecting my overall well-being.

I derive pleasure from it, but I am concerned about the extent to which it has taken control of my life. I mainly use vibrators on my clitoris and have recently discovered a preference for anal play, which has intensified this behavior. Unfortunately, this has led to physical discomfort and soreness due to the frequency. Additionally, I have noticed that I require more explicit content and larger toys to achieve orgasm. I also engage in online sexual activities and chats, which involve interactions that I later feel ashamed of, as they encourage behaviors I would not typically engage in. I can occasionally go without this behavior for a few days, but then I tend to revert and dedicate an entire day to it. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

Masturbation is normal and it is done by both males and females. It is just another way of having sex without a partner. It is a good practice, and helps in the following ways:

  1. It helps to relieve stress.

  2. Boosts mood.

  3. Improves sleep.

  4. Helps to prevent depression and anxiety.

  5. Relaxes the mind of a person.

  6. Relieves pain and muscle cramps.

  7. Relieves sexual tension.

  8. Improves the confidence of a person.

  9. Allows one to have better sex.

  10. Helps the person understand his needs and desires.

  11. In females, masturbation increases vaginal blood flow.

Masturbating two to three times a week is not an issue, but doing more than that can cause tiredness, loss of concentration, and a sense of infertility.

Following are the ways to reduce masturbation:

  1. Sex education

  2. Physical exercises.

  3. Sleep adjustment.

  4. Quality sleep.

  5. Healthy and balanced diet.

  6. Programming for leisure time.

  7. Development of spirituality.

  8. Taking a cold bath.

  9. For tiredness or a decrease in strength, you can take a multivitamin capsule of Astymin Forte (Folic Acid, Niacin, Vitamin D3, Biotin, and Cyanocobalamin) once in the morning and a tablet of Shelcal (Calcium carbonate and Vitamin D3) once at night after food for 30 days.

I hope this information helps you. Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.

Thank you.
