Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I see eye flashes after I drink alcohol the next day. And it is occurring more often. Can anyone tell me what this is and what I can do about it? It usually lasts the morning and fades away by 10.30 AM. I have been getting eye flashes after drinking for about three years now, and it is happening more often.

Hello,

Welcome to iclliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

There is a jelly-like substance in the eye called vitreous humor, and as age progresses, it starts to liquefy, and you start seeing floaters, or it also happens in high myopes. I suggest you go to an ophthalmologist immediately in case there is an increase in the number of these floaters, decreased vision, or if you see flashes of light because these are the signs of retinal detachment. I suggest you get your retina checked. Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or concerns. Take care.
