Patient's Query

Hi doctor.

I am a 19-year-old female and I have been suffering from eye pain for the last nine months. I have consulted several ophthalmologists regarding the same. Initially, I used to have a white liquid coming from my eyes, which is better now. Doctors said I had some allergy which is treated, But still, I have severe pain behind my eyes. I am done with the thyroid and vitamin D tests and taking medicines for vitamin D as I was deficient. The thyroid was absolutely fine. I also got my ENT checked and it is completely fine. The recent ophthalmologist I consulted with said that there is nothing serious and said I have an allergy to pollution, so it cannot be eliminated, but I do not think it is the problem. Please do tell me the reason behind the pain in my eyes and transparent discharge (that is somewhat under control). Also sometimes I see blur from the right eye and have some sensitivity to light so I keep the brightness of my phone, and laptop always low. However, I do feel better with eye exercises, which help in reducing eye pain. Also, I have specs with +0.25 power, which was prescribed three to four months ago and it feels better by using them in terms of pain. I think the drop I am having is for dry eyes but even after using it for the last three months, there is little improvement. Also if you feel that it is related to pollution please tell me how to handle it. Please advise me on the prescribed course of action.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your symptoms are suggestive of dryness. Try a cold compress. Restrict the use of mobile and laptops. Use antiglare glasses. Use Systane ultra gel carboxymethylcellulose, dextran, glycerin, hypromellose, polyethylene glycol) more frequently. Avoid direct exposure of air to the eye. Take a break after every hour of work and close your eyes and relax. There is no permanent cure for dryness with proper treatment symptoms will be relieved. I hope this will help you. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
