Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

A year ago I had a pimple close to my eye area and it ended up becoming swollen and feverish to the point my eye was sealed shut. My doctor put me on antibiotics. Now I am having the same problem but in my chin area. I have this little hole that is purple looking with puss-like matter trying to come out. My whole chin area is swollen all the way to my lips and down and it hurts so bad that I think I have a staphylococcus infection but I am not sure. I cleaned it with peroxide and alcohol and kept a bandaid over it. I would just like a medical opinion on what to do if I can treat it over the counter, or if I need antibiotics. Can you prescribe me some medications? Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your history and images (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity) are more in favor of furuncle or infected acne. This is probably because of bacterial infection. As it is located over d face, it is advisable to treat it with a course of oral antibiotics. Kindly mention if ur a diabetic, if you repeatedly keep rubbing your face or pricking your nose, and if you are on any other medication.

Thank you.

Differential diagnosis

Furuncle or acne grade 3.

Treatment plan

Tablet Pantoprazole 40 mg before breakfast for a week. Cap Doxycycline 100mg twice daily after food for a week

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Can you prescribe me an antibiotic for this problem? I have no insurance. If you can prescribe me an antibiotic for the issue that would be great.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Doxycycline is an antibiotic that I had prescribed for your skin condition and you need to take it for a week, twice daily after food.

Thank you.

Treatment plan

1) Tablet of Pantoprazole 40 mg once daily before breakfast for a week. 2) Capsule Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily after food for a week. 3) Mupirocin cream twice daily for local application.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
