Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My face is itchy, swells, and my skin peels, leaving a dark area on the face. It happened twice this year. What should I do?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern. As per the history provided, it may be facial eczema. Facial eczema is a lesion formed on the facial skin which is itchy, dry, and sometimes red with white flakes formed due to multiple factors, including genetic factors, due to reaction to any allergens like dust, skin care products, pollen, food items, climate changes, and as a result of any underlying conditions appearing in association with bronchial asthma. It may appear on and off due to the response to the allergen and may be managed with appropriate medications. I suggest the following. Apply Hydrocortisone 1 % cream to the affected area in a very thin layer taking the smallest amount of the cream for the affected area only. Use it once daily at night for a maximum period of ten days. Take tablet Cetirizine 10 mg one hour before sleep for seven days. Please do not go out or drive after consuming the medication, as it may cause sedation. In addition, it helps reduce the itching associated with the lesion. Use Alpha Hydroxy Acid glow face wash once daily in the morning. Apply and massage gently in circular motions, and wash off within one minute. Apply Cetaphil moisturizing cream to the face twice daily to reduce dryness. Ensure to avoid allergens and consume enough water daily to prevent dryness. However, please consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them and start taking the medications with their consent. I hope this helps. Thank you and take care.
