Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have done four ultrasound scan of my 37 weeks baby showing the impression of the fetal left lateral cerebral ventricle is significantly dilated (approximately 27 mm) with the irregularity of the wall. Left choroid plexus is enlarged and filled with a hypoechoic central part. Corpus callosum is thin and irregular, the pericallosal artery is normal. These features are strongly suggestive of late second or early third-trimester vascular insult or hemorrhage. The doctor advised for a postnatal Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain evaluation and pediatric neurological consultation.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. All these suggest that there is a problem on the left side of the baby's brain. To ascertain the cause and extent of the problem, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) brain is definitely required. Based on the MRI, further investigations can be planned. At this point, it is difficult to predict the outcomes of this problem.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have attached the reports. Please suggest.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com. The possible reasons can be bleeding in the brain due to prematurity, due to low oxygenation, due to bleeding tendencies, and due to low birth weight. But, we need an magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to be done. You can go for fetal MRI. After that, you can consult a pediatrician to evaluate the cause and to prevent any further damage.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
