Patient's Query

Hello,

I want to confirm about some health issues of my son. He is a 19 year old boy, his weight is 101.4 pounds and his height is 5 feet 5 inches. He is having fever, chest pain, back pain, diarrhea, weakness, complete loss of appetite, sore throat and bloating for the past seven days. So, I took him to a doctor, he had prescribed some medicines and given some tests to do. You can see the attached pictures here. In that, some values of the tests are on border levels and some are on extreme levels. Please take a closer look at these test reports and tell me if there is anything serious to worry about. And now, the fever has gone completely, but he is having sore throat and diarrhea again from yesterday. Is there any solution for that? Kindly give me a detailed answer about my son's health.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read through your query in detail (attachments removed to protect patient identity) and my observations are: In the blood reports attached, the hemoglobin level and blood cells are normal. Blood glucose and bilirubin level are also normal. Thyroid function is normal. Liver enzymes are slightly raised and this might be due to mild infection. The chest x-ray is normal. The neck x-ray finding is not causing his symptoms right now and that is not a concern. Ultrasound scan abdomen shows enlarged liver likely due to infection. Following are the medication details that I suggest you to take tablet Zoxtil 500 (Cephalosporin) is an antibiotic, tablet Remylin (combination of Alpha lipoic acid 100mg, Pyridoxine hydrochloride 3mg, Methylcobalamine 1500mg, Folic acid 1.5mg and vitamin D3 1000IU) is a vitamin, tablet Rabsig (Rabeprazole 20mg) is for gastritis, should be taken before food, tablet Alock SR (Aceclofenac 200mg) is for pain, should be taken after food, tablet Ursodox (Ursodeoxycholic 300mg) is for liver function. For diarrhea, you can add tablet Sporlac-DS (Lactobacillus), one capsule 3 times a day after food for 5 days. This will help to treat diarrhea and is a safe medicine. It looks like there is some infection which is causing these symptoms. The antibiotics prescribed by the doctor are adequate. Since the fever has gone completely, the situation is not so serious and his infection is under control. It will take 7 to 15 days for him to recover. If the fever returns, then you should consult your doctor to do specific blood tests. The weakness and loss of appetite might be due to the infection. Your son should eat 1800 kcal diet and this can be either foods or fluids like fresh juices. The food should be home made with less added oil. Hope my answers done with your questions. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
