Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been suggested laparoscopic myomectomy for the removal of three uterine fibroids, 2 cm each. But, I have not been given any Lupron injections before surgery. So I have a few doubts.

1. Are there any risks of death after this surgery?

2. What are the chances of blood loss and loss of the uterus?

3. What are the chances of it getting converted into an open myomectomy?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Lupron injections are given to patients with huge fibroids to reduce their size. Your fibroids are small in size, and that is why an injection was not given. It is a simple procedure, and the death rate is minimal after surgery. Blood loss is less because they remove the fibroid with a capsule, and it is a minimally invasive procedure. The chances are low for open surgery, but open surgery is required if a big fibroid is observed during laparoscopy.

I hope this has helped you out.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

However, I have a few more questions.

1. After the myomectomy, how long can I wait to conceive?

2. What are the chances of success in IVF with donor eggs at the age of 38?

3. I have several seedling fibroids. Will that be removed?

4. Will these fibroids cause harm later?

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

You have to wait for at least three months to recover from surgery. If the egg quality is good, age does not matter. Fibroids will not cause any harm in the future.

I hope this has helped you out.

Thank you.
