Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
When I comb my hair, heavy scales are seen along with the hair, and it does not appear for two to three days after shampooing. Is this due to psoriasis? I have attached a photo for your reference. Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern. From the attached images (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), it does not look like psoriasis or like a dry scalp. However, I suggest you answer the following questions to assist you further. Is there any relevant family history of psoriasis? Are there any scaly lesions on the body, knees, elbows, or abdomen? When did this problem start? Do you observe any bleeding points when you remove the scales? Do you have severe itching associated with it? I also suggest you use the following medications. Use Tarsalic (Coal tar 4.25 %+ salicylic acid 2 %) shampoo twice a week. Apply Liquid paraffin (emulsifiers) in the morning and afternoon for two weeks. Take Capsule Omega 3 (docosahexaenoic acid) once daily for 30 days. Take tablet Cetrizine (Cetrizine hydrochloride) 10 mg once at night if itching is present. I hope this helps you. Thank you.
