Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been on capsule Flucloxacillin 500 mg four times a day for a soft tissue infection. Unfortunately, the condition has recurred, and I am staying in abroad. Can I reduce the dosage of the medicine to twice daily? Kindly help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern. Capsule Flucloxacillin has a short half-life, so it should be taken six hourly. However, I suggest taking it four times a day or thrice daily and taking it one or two hours before the meal as food decreases absorption. Kindly revert for more queries. Thank you.

Thank you for your reply, doctor.
I have medicines for one more day left, and I live abroad. What will I do if the tenderness recurs? Kindly help.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
The usual duration is five to seven days, but the duration of therapy may be increased by a few days in case of severe or persistent infection. If there are still signs of infection, you may need to continue for two or three days more. Kindly revert for more queries. Thank you.

I do not have enough medicines as I am traveling on a ship. I have four more tablets left. Kindly help.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Take the medicines 12 hourly, but the medication will get over in two days. So if you can, take the medicines for two more days Thank you.
