Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My wife has an active lifestyle and takes good care of her health, except for long-term diabetic treatment on Metformin. Also, she has been taking medications for high blood pressure. However, the main issue was that she suffered food poisoning four months ago. She was hospitalized for two days but seems to have recovered entirely until now. My wife has been experiencing the same symptoms (in a milder form) after eating certain meals for the past three weeks. We cannot find a specific trigger, but some of the initial bacteria are still present in her stomach. Is this possible, and if so, what should we do?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Could you please clarify the state of hypertension and diabetes? Is it under control, or is she on medications? Also, can you please elaborate a little more on what has happened? What do you mean by food poisoning? Whether it is diarrhea or vomiting? Does it come with or without pain? And how has she been feeling over the previous three weeks? What symptoms are bothering her the most? Does she have diarrhea, and if so, how frequently? Is there any blood involved? Is there any stomach ache this time? If so, what is the pattern of her pain? Is it colicky pain or burning type?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I understand that you need more pieces of information. Unfortunately, my wife unexpectedly became ill with a sharp stomach ache last night, and we were obliged to go to the emergency hospital here. At this moment, we have no idea what has caused her this discomfort. Therefore, for the time being, I would prefer to put my query on hold. I appreciate your attitude toward our circumstances and hope to contact you again in the future.

Welcome to back icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I hope everything goes well and that she recovers quickly. I hope physicians try their utmost to pinpoint the specific problem. It would be my pleasure to assist you. You are always welcome here. Furthermore, I believe it may be gastritis (inflammation of the lining of the stomach causing stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting), pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), or cholecystitis (inflammation of the gallbladder), typical causes of severe stomach discomfort. Further investigations will help to rule out the cause.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
