Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Before detailing my current symptoms, I would like to provide some context. I am currently traveling and have experienced food poisoning characterized by diarrhea and vomiting twice in the past two weeks. I was prescribed Spasmomen, which I completed yesterday. I mention these occurrences because I am uncertain if my present symptoms are a result of these recent events. Over the last two days, I have been experiencing an unusual sensation. I feel as though my body is being simultaneously pulled or weighed down, accompanied by a floaty sensation in my head (not dizziness), almost as if I could float away. I have noticed my voice is strained, and at times, I stumble over my words, struggle to gather my thoughts, and perceive my voice as if it's not coming from me. I feel clumsy, disoriented, and somewhat disconnected from my body. Naturally, these symptoms are concerning, particularly while traveling. While there was some improvement this morning, the symptoms have worsened as the day progressed.

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out to with iCliniq.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Based on your description, you have been experiencing sensations such as feeling weird, a pulling sensation in the body, a floaty feeling in the head, a strained voice, disordered thoughts, clumsiness, and disorientation. Notably, you have a history of taking Spasmomen (otolnium bromide) for traveler's diarrhea. Spasmomen contains otilonium bromide, which has various potential side effects, including nausea, drowsiness, headache, weakness, blurred vision, dizziness, disorientation, constipation, abdominal pain, dry eyes, dry mouth, and low blood pressure, among others. These side effects may manifest while taking the medication or shortly after completing the prescribed dose. It appears that your current symptoms align with potential side effects induced by this medication. Fortunately, these side effects are typically temporary and tend to resolve on their own over time. There is no need for excessive worry; the side effects should subside within a few days without requiring additional treatment.

Looking forward to your response in order to help you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

I am glad you found the information helpful. Additionally, I have recently recalled experiencing pressure in my head or ears over the past two days. Notably, these symptoms did not occur when I was taking the tablets for the initial bout of food poisoning. Is this development considered normal?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, these symptoms are considered normal in the context of this medication's side effects. I recommend checking your blood pressure, as it may be low, indicating hypotension, which aligns with the clinical features you're experiencing. To address this, consider taking oral rehydration salts (ORS) regularly for the next few days, and you should find relief from your current discomfort. As previously mentioned, the side effects of this medication can manifest during the course of taking it or after discontinuation. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask. Have a nice day.

Once more, thank you for allowing us to be of service to you.

We value the high level of confidence you have in us!
