Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had my period twice within a month. Is this normal? My periods were normal, with cramps and the same symptoms. Also, I am not taking any birth control. This has never happened before.

Kindly advice.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Dear, please send me detailed medical history. As you mentioned, you are not on any contraceptive pills, so first of all, it is better to have serum beta HCG (blood pregnancy test) to exclude pregnancy. Urine pregnancy tests and transvaginal scans are unable to detect at this very early stage. Check on any stress, anxiety, illness medications, any hormonal product that can also affect periods. If a pregnancy test comes positive, you need to have a transvaginal scan to check any retained product and evaluate the evacuation need. If there is no pregnancy, then have a thyroid function test to check for thyroid issues. Have you been following a cervical smear? If yes, was the recent test report normal? If not done, better to have. Better to have a transvaginal scan and one local outpatient hysteroscopic examination to exclude any pelvic pathology.

Best of luck.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
