Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

We are concerned about our 3 years old boy. He started urinating very often at the day time. He urinated about 40 times a day today. Every couple minutes, sometimes 5-10-15 minute gaps with a small amount urine. Our boy has no temperature, no pain, seems happy, playing like usual. Sleeps well and does not urinate at night. Hopefully, you will give me an advice. I will look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

From what you are describing, there may seem to be an overactive bladder. It is more during the day and normal at night in this case. In such cases, it is usually transient. I would also want to know the psychological state of this child if he has been shouted at or beaten by someone. Since this is a very common reason for such a phenomenon, it should go away in a while once the offending agent is taken care of. It is advisable to do an ADH level for this child if this persists for more than a week. Oxybutynin may need to be started if symptoms are severe and not resolving.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
