Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 33-year-old. After passing a kidney stone, I had symptoms of pain in the groin area and around the penis, dysuria, and frequent urination. I have the symptoms for two months. The doctors diagnosed me with chronic prostatitis, and I even did cystoscopy without any abnormalities finding in the bladder, just inflammation, and congestion in the prostate. They gave me four weeks of Ciprofloxacin antibiotic. I am now about 11 days of medication, and my pain and dysuria are well improved. However, I still feel pressure on my bladder that makes me feel the urge to urinate even though I do not really have much to urinate, but it is a feeling rather than actual urination. Since I cannot tolerate well to alpha-blockers, the doctor prescribed Cialis 5 mg to start with, and another doctor prescribed me Vesicare 5 mg to start with. Which is best for my condition? And do they have serious side effects? Kindly give your opinion.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Yes, it seems to be prostatitis. I agree with that, and you are on long-term antibiotics, which is great, and you improved, and I hope you will reach full recovery. And in case after antibiotic treatment you did not get well, please follow me back. Regarding which one is better, Cialis (Tadalafil) or Vesicare (Solifenacin succinate) for you as you still have urgency and frequency of urination. I recommend Vesicare, which is an anticholinergic medication to control your bladder sensitivity. Cialis is more effective in older people who have frequency secondary to prostate enlargement. Regarding side effects from Vesicare, it can be dry mouth and constipation mainly. But it affects people differently. If you have any more queries, please do not hesitate to ask
