Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have occasionally been suffering from fungal infections in my vagina. A couple of years ago, I got treated and recovered. But again, this year, I am suffering. There is a thick white discharge and roughness in my private area. It is quite painful while having sex, and I even bleed after intercourse. Soon I got treated by a doctor, and my dryness and discharge improved after ten days. But itchiness started for the last two days, and the inner parts of my vagina were covered in white, scattered-like discharge. The skin also became white, as it happened before. I suggested my partner get checked for any infection. However, what can I do for myself? Previously I took medication of antibiotics, Hydroxyzine Hydrochloride 25 mg tablets.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Have you done any investigations like a pap smear, vaginal swab, and BSL? If not, please get it done. Is there any family history of diabetes? You should keep that area clean and dry, change undergarments twice a day, and wash your genital with soft cleansers like V wash to avoid such repeated infections. Avoid intercourse or at least use condoms till the infection is there.

My advice, consult your specialist doctor, talk to them, and take medications after their consent.

  1. Take a tablet of Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily.
  2. Take a tablet of Metronidazole 400 mg thrice daily.
  3. Take a tablet of Pan 40 mg twice daily before meals.
  4. Clingen (Clindamycin and Clotrimazole) vaginal pessary (keep that in the vagina while sleeping at night).

Take all these for seven days.

Hope this information helps you.

Thank you.
