Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 23 years old, and my height is 5 feet and 7 inches. My current weight is just 105.82 pounds. Considering my height, this weight appears to be quite low, and it makes me look younger than my actual age. I am concerned about this and would like to know about the steps I should take at the moment to achieve a healthy weight. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your ideal weight should be around 154.32 pounds. First of all I would suggest you to carry out chest X-ray and complete blood count to rule out any chronic infection that is preventing you from gaining weight.

To gain weight you need to take the following steps:

  1. Take more protein in your diet.

  2. Eat good protein rich foods like lean meats, fish, poultry, egg white, nuts, seeds, pulses, and legumes.

  3. Eat healthy carbohydrates like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

  4. Eat five to six small balanced meals per day rather than eating three large meals.

  5. Protein powder and nutritional supplement drinks can be added.

  6. Eat bananas and two fresh anjeer daily. You can have banana or chickoo milkshakes.

  7. Keep a record of calorie intake each day. Try to increase calorie intake by checking the record and continue to increase your calorie intake until you gain weight.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

Thank you.
