Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I read your query and understand your concern. I have reviewed your case history in detail and attached an ultrasound report (attachment removed to protect the patient’s identity). So, it was not only gallstones in your ultrasound, there was an inflamed gall bladder too, which itself is an indication for surgery. If a patient has gallstones and there is no episode of pain and gallstones are incidental findings on routine ultrasound, there is no need for intervention immediately and these are known as asymptomatic stones. In your case, you are having recurrent abdominal pains and your gallbladder has multiple stones with the largest one the size you mentioned, these are known as symptomatic gallstones and need to be removed. There is no medical treatment or dietary modifications which can prevent further episodes of such pain. Sometimes it can be dangerous. Considering you are traveling somewhere away from your hometown and you have severe abdominal pain, it will be a significant emergency to go for surgery, and it is better to go for an elective procedure rather than an emergency procedure. Another issue in your ultrasound report is your fatty liver, your liver functions should be checked too, and avoid alcohol consumption if any. I hope I have cleared all your doubts.

Thank you.
