How to get rid of dull stomach pain in a middle-aged woman?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a middle-aged woman, and I am experiencing a dull stomach ache that has occurred at times for the past month. I do not experience other significant symptoms except a history of mild gastritis.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Dull stomach ache that occurs at times is representative of two conditions, acute gastritis and mild gut infection. We will treat both of the mentioned conditions, and if the pain does not resolve, we might need some investigations.

For gastritis, I suggest you take,

1. A suitable proton pump inhibitor like tablet Cyra 20 mg (Rabeprazole) twice a day.

2. Antacid like Mucaine gel syrup two teaspoons thrice a day.

3. Capsule Unienzyme 1 mg twice a day.

4. Along with this, I also suggest you take antibiotics for five days. Cefixime and Ornidazole twice a day.

This will cover any persisting infection. For abdominal pain, you can take the tablet Drotin DS (Drotaverine) only in times of severe pain. If the issue persists, we will get an ultrasound abdomen.

I hope this helps.

Kindly revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
