Patient's Query

Hello,

I am a 37-year-old male with hydrocele, and my creatinine level is 0.9 mg/dL, BUN (blood urea nitrogen) is 9.5 mg/dL, and uric acid is 8.7 mg/dL. I also experience pain in the middle portion of my stomach, which comes and goes and is not constant. Sometimes I also experience bloating. I have episodes of circular and intermittent pain that feel like stretching. Please tell me about the area of pain in the hydrocele and what precautions I should take to improve my digestive system, as I also have digestion problems.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq, and thank you for choosing us as your provider for health care.

Have gone through all your details and appreciate your concern. The infection you are experiencing is known as gastroenteritis or stomach flu. Gastroenteritis causes severe inflammation of the intestinal mucosa, leading to symptoms such as loose stools, indigestion, and vomiting. This condition can be caused by viruses, bacteria, or parasites. The best way to manage it is by consuming clean food and washing hands with an antiseptic soap before each meal. The following tests are suggested:

  1. Abdominal ultrasound to check for inflammation in the abdomen.
  2. Stool test to detect bacterial or protozoal infection.
  3. Fecal calprotectin test to assess intestinal inflammation.

In most cases, stomach flu is caused by a viral infection and tends to resolve on its own within seven to ten days. However, if it is determined to be bacterial or protozoal in nature, antibiotic therapy may be prescribed. Before starting antibiotics, a stool routine and microscopy test should be conducted to confirm the presence of a bacterial or protozoal infection. Follow the provided instructions and be aware that this condition usually resolves on its own without the need for antibiotics. Treatment suggestions:

  1. Start taking products that contain the active ingredient psyllium husk, as they increase the bulk of the stool and improve digestion.
  2. Begin taking a good over-the-counter probiotic daily, as it gradually improves digestion. Probiotics are rich in good bacteria that aid in digestion.
  3. Incorporate plenty of bananas, apples, and peaches into your diet.
  4. Drink fibrous juices and stay well hydrated.
  5. Opt for light and easily digestible foods.
  6. Antibiotic therapy may be considered based on the investigation reports.
  7. Loperamide 4 mg can be taken as a one-time dose to stop loose stools.
  8. Dicyclomine can be taken for spasmodic pains, along with Esomeprazole 40 mg.

If your blood pressure and pulse are normal, you can follow the above suggestions for two to three days. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take the medicines with their consent. It is important to note that the pain associated with hydrocele is limited to the scrotum area and is unrelated to gastric problems.

Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further.

Thank you.
