Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 35-year-old woman interested in understanding the connection between genetics and obesity. I have come across this mutation called ATBF1 and its potential impact on weight. Can you break down how this gene mutation influences obesity, and is there any way it might affect weight loss efforts? I am keen to explore this aspect for a healthier lifestyle. Kindly suggest.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to Icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

There are no potential links between obesity, ATBF1, and weight gain. Weight can be associated with other hormonal changes in the body such as TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) which is from the thyroid gland. When TSH increases, then the chances of weight gain also increase. Other diseases like PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease) also cause weight gain among females. Exercising regularly can help in balancing the weight.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
