Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have used hair removal cream on my bikini area and never had any reactions before. But, this time it irritated my labia, and I have two painful ulcers. I have been using Vagisil and Hc45 hydrocortisone cream for three days, but it is still the same. Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. From the pictures attached, it appears like herpes genitalis (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). I suggest you the tablet Acyclovir (antiviral drug) 200 mg tablet, five times a day for five days, and the following tests:

1. A wound swab culture and sensitivity.

2. STI (sexually transmitted infections) screen of your urine sample.

I also suggest you stop applying Hydrocortisone ointment as it may worsen the lesions. I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Regarding follow up

Follow up with wound culture and STI report.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

Will I have discomfort during urination? Will it spread to other areas? Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Herpes usually causes painful sores. At times it can cause painless lesions. We can start the tablet Acyclovir empirically. However, the confirmatory diagnosis will depend on the STI and wound culture, and sensitivity report. I hope this helps you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
