What other ointments and preventive measures help treat ulcers on the scrotum?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have had a sore or ulcer on my scrotum for the past three to four days, which is not painful unless I rub or clean it. Before it developed, I had severe itching, so I rubbed it for relief. I did not have any sexual intercourse, but I do masturbate. I accidentally wore a wet dress and applied Povidone Iodine ointment, but it takes time to heal. Please suggest some other ointment. I have also attached an image of the ulcer.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have reviewed the attached images (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). You need not worry about sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) because there is no history of sexual intercourse. It might be due to folliculitis or other infection. Wear loose cotton inner wears for adequate ventilation. I suggest you apply topical antibiotic cream like Mupirocin or Fucidin (Sodium Fusidate). You can consult your doctor for examination and management if it does not subside.
Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
