Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My mother is 58 years old and recently she has started experiencing eye pain. We consulted a doctor and found out that my mother had glaucoma. Also, they mentioned that it is in the advanced stage and severe around 90 percent. From another couple of tests, they found that my mother needs cataract surgery along with glaucoma. Upon asking about the remedies, doctors said that the surgery could prevent further damage but it will not help in recovering the eye power. I need some help to understand the best possible way to cure or prevent further vision loss. Can glaucoma and cataract be treated at the same time? Is it advisable? Kindly suggest.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. In most cases, ophthalmologists do run the cataract and glaucoma surgery at the same time successfully. I hope your mother will get through the same success. I would suggest you get the surgery done as it will be the best choice. It might take a few days to recover fully, but you need patience. You need to get regular follow-ups with an ophthalmologist and take the eye drops as recommended.

I hope this helps you.

Thanks.

Regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
