My hairs are shedding even after using Minoxidil. Why?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been using Minoxidil for about a year now and continue to shed. I now have balding patches where there were not before. Ironically, the thinning I had started using it for filled in.

Wondering if I need to stop using it or if it is normal to still experience shedding. I use it twice a day, consistently.

Please advise.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I have attached the file.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read and understand your concern.

It is androgenetic alopecia, also called male pattern baldness. It is an aging process, not a disease. Do not worry about hair shedding; it is a normal process.

Continue using Minoxidil 5% lotion, half a teaspoon twice daily, as long as possible. You can go for PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy for better results and as an add-on treatment.

Looking forward to your response so I can help.

Thank you.
