When I woke up in the morning, my left side had a headache, then a few hours later, it moved to the right side, and my eyes felt pain and burning. Please help.

I would like to know some details about your symptoms:

1. Since when you started to have these headaches?

2. In which part of your head do you feel headaches? (You can attach your photo, clicked from a little distance, with your hand kept over part of the head where you feel a headache. Attach two to three photos from the front and sides of the headache area large).

3. What kind of headaches do you feel (heaviness, bursting, squeezing, stretching, throbbing, or other? And How is the intensity of the headache (mild, moderate, or severe)?

4. Your headaches are intermittent or persistent?

5. If intermittent, one episode of headache lasts for how long duration (without pain killer tablet)?

6. Do you feel any nausea or vomiting during headache episodes?

7. Is headache associated with any eye redness, watering from the eyes, or nasal blockage?

8. Have you noticed any specific trigger factor for this headache till now (apart from morning time)?

9. How frequent are these headaches? How many times in a week?

10. Do you take any medicine for your headache? If yes, please tell us the name, dosage, and frequency.

12. How is your vision for distant and near objects?

13. Have you undergone a CT scan or MRI Brain for headaches? If yes, please send reports.

Other information:

  1. How is your sleep routine?
  2. Do you get sleepy soon after laying in bed? or it takes a long time?
  3. Once got sleepy, do you have frequent awakenings during sleep?
  4. Do you feel fresh on awakening from sleep in the morning?
  5. How is your usual mood in day-to-day activities? Happy, toward the sad side (thinking about past events), toward the worried side (thinking about future things and irritable or something else)?

1. MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) Brain with contrast. 2. ECG (electrocardiogram). 3. T3 T4 TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone). 4. Serum Vitamin B12. Ophthalmology consultation to look for refraction/ IOP/ Fundus.

Hi doctor,

  1. I have been suffering from these headaches for 30 days.
  2. My headache intensity is of mild level only.
  3. My headaches are intermittent only.
  4. When waking up in the morning, the left side headache lasts one to two hours. After, it moves to the right side for only a few hours, but the mild pain level and the back side of the head also. Attached are photos of the pain area for your reference.
  5. I felt no nausea and no vomiting.
  6. There is eye pain and eye burn.
  7. There has been no specific trigger factor for this headache until now (apart from the morning time).
  8. I got these headaches every day.
  9. So far, did not take any medicine.
  10. Vision is fine, no problem.
  11. I did not take any CT scans or MRIs Brain for headaches.

Other information:

  1. I will sleep soon after taking food, while morning should be no issue, only this headache is a problem.
  2. My day is busy with work and evening, relaxing with my friend and family.

As per your description, It is a new onset headache (started in 30 days only) and occurs in the morning with eye symptoms.

It will require an evaluation.

Possibilities can be -

1. Raised ICP (intracranial pressure).

2. Tension headache or Migraine headache.

3. Glaucoma.

Investigations to be done

1. MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) Brain including MR Venography brain with contrast. 2. T3 T4 TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone). 3. Serum Vitamin B12. 4. ECG (electrocardiogram). 5. KFT. 6. Ophthalmology consultation along with looking for - refraction, IOP, Fundus examination.

Regarding follow up

Review with reports.
