Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My brother-in-law went for angiography, and he has two blockages 60% and 80%. Now, his doctor saying that it is urgent to get an operation and they will fix two stents. What will you suggest? Is it fine to go with a stent? Will it work lifetime? Or shall we opt bypass?

Answered by Dr. Nageswara Rao

Hi.

Welcome back to icliniq.com. If the individual is free of diabetes, they may consider undergoing stent placement. However, it's important to note that Angioplasty, including stent placement, does not provide a lifetime guarantee. Typically, angioplasty can yield positive results for around a decade. In certain cases, a patient's condition might not align with the suitability of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Even CABG, a more invasive option, cannot ensure a lifetime guarantee of effectiveness.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Do you suggest any particular stent from your end?

Answered by Dr. Nageswara Rao

HI,

Welcome back to icliniq.com. Do not worry. There are many good companies like Abbot, Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Meril, etc. Please discuss with the treating doctor and go ahead with the surgery.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
