Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I did a complete blood test, and everything was normal. I did a scanning of the lungs, and it was normal. I did EEG, ECG and again everything was perfect. But I have pressure on my head and face. I have a pain on my head. I do not know why I have this problem. I have difficulty during sleeping. Sometimes, I stay without sleeping for three days. Before two months, I got diagnosed with sinus infection. I took medicines for a month, and I was fine. Please advice.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Likely, the cause is chronic sinusitis. You have pressure in face, and head due to an accumulation of mucus in the sinuses due to infection or allergies. Please say whether you have frequent rhinitis or nose blocks associated with it. Also, in some patients, this pressure may increase after bending the head down or when changing the head position. Your inadequate sleep can also cause a headache and eye strain or eye ache. So, you need to have adequate sleep for at least six to seven hours daily.

When having difficulty in a vision like blurring while seeing near or far objects, eye-straining on reading, also causes similar symptoms. To confirm it, you should get a facial X-ray done for sinus inflammation and consult an ENT specialist. You may need to take medicines for it. Take Solvin cold (Chlorpheniramine maleate with Paracetamol), Duonase nasal spray (Fluticasone with Azelastine hydrochloride) and Xylometazoline nasal spray to control inflammation and drainage. You can do steam inhalation three to four times a day to get relief from congestion.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I did an X-ray. I have a blocked nose. I have a problem of getting mucus coming along with blood in the morning. I can read well, and I can see far objects very well. But I am unable to concentrate. Sometimes, I have an eye strain and eye pain. My X-ray lungs, heart ECG and head EEG, are fine. Can it be a psychological issue? Please advice.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Since you have blocked nose, chronic sinusitis is a strong possibility in you, and it explains all your symptoms. Even in the absence of the blocked nose, one can have sinusitis due to blockages in the sinuses. Blood test, X-ray lungs, EEG will be healthy, and you can see abnormalities in facial X-ray. You have to repeat CBC, facial X-ray and also do CT scan of sinuses. You should follow the medications prescribed, and you should do steam inhalation frequently.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
