What could be done to increase the height of a 4-year-old?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My daughter is 4 years and 5 months old. Her height is 3 feet 2 inches, and her weight is 33 pounds. I want to know whether the height and weight are normal for that age. My height is 5 feet 7 inches and my mother is 5 feet tall. I am worried about her height. I want her to be at least 5 feet 4 inches. What can I do to make her tall?

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for providing all the details. I would like to congratulate you that your child is growing quite well right now.

The final height depends on many factors. A parent's height determines the genetic potential of the child by which we can have an idea of the child's final height range. But, at the same time, it also depends on adequate nutrition during the growing years, which helps the child grow to her maximum potential and may be more than that. I calculated your child's potential height range. It is 148 to 159 cm (centimeters) which is around 5 feet to 5 feet 3 inches. So, do not worry. Just improve your child's nutrition and especially adequate proteins.

I hope that you get your answer.

Please let me know if you need any help.

Thank you.
