Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am taking Amoxicillin 2.25 mg daily, along with 80 mg Famotidine, as I am allergic to other drugs for H.Pylori infection. However, I am taking Famotidine 80 mg daily instead of Omeprazole, as I cannot tolerate Omeprazole. I am suffering from a lot of acidity with my whole body burning and sour taste in my mouth and indigestion. Is there any method to stop this acidity by taking more Famotidine and getting cured? Please suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and can understand your concern. I suggest you take the tablet Famotidine (Lactose monohydrate) twice daily. Also, take Mucaine gel (Aluminium hydroxide and Magnesium hydroxide) syrup 10ml thrice daily after food. Have you got any upper GI (gastrointestinal) endoscopy done?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your response. I was previously taking Amoxicillin 1000 mg and Tinidazole 1200 mg daily but the bacteria did not go, do you think, with this changed medication the results will be achieved? Did an ultrasound and the doctor told me everything was alright but I have not done an endoscopy yet as the doctor told me there was no need to do so. There was severe bloating but now my stomach has reduced in size. I should take this Amoxicillin, Famotidine treatment for how many days? I am also feeling like vomiting and defecating mostly due to acidity. Can Gelusil syrup be substituted for the syrup you have referred to? I have tried to take two teaspoons of Gelusil several times after food previously, but it results in an alkaline taste in my mouth and severe indigestion with uncontrollable loose motion. Please suggest.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

In my opinion, you should definitely get an upper GI (gastrointestinal) endoscopy for the diagnosis. And take Amoxicillin and Famotidine for 21 days. Yes, you can take Gelusil (Aluminium hydroxide and Magnesium hydroxide) syrup. I hope you find this helpful.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am unable to take Amoxicillin as per the US Govt study, as my whole body is having a burning sensation and it is very uncomfortable. I am having Clarithromycin allergy, so please tell me the other medicines I can take with the existing medicines consisting of :

1. Two tablets per day, Norflox-TZ 400/600 mg (to both stop the infection as well as stop uncontrolled diarrheas due to pylori)

2. Mox (Amoxicillin 1750mg) per day to control H.Pylori.

I took 2.25 gm of Amoxicillin after we discussed but now after a painful burning sensation in my body, I have discontinued and the bacteria is responding less to the previous low dosage of the medicines and causing more trouble, so please suggest further as loose motion and stomach pain is increasing due to the bacterial infection.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. I suggest you take Norflox-TZ (Norfloxacin, Tinidazole, and Lactobacillus) 400mg twice daily if Amoxicillin is not helping you. Hope I have solved your query.
