Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 28 year old female. My recent blood test results indicate that my hemoglobin levels are 10 g/dL. I understand that normal hemoglobin levels can vary slightly depending on age, gender, and other factors. Still, I would like to know whether my current hemoglobin levels fall within the normal range or if there is cause for concern. I have been experiencing specific symptoms that have led me to inquire about my hemoglobin levels. These symptoms include fatigue, shortness of breath, pale skin, or dizziness. I would like to understand if there is a possible connection between these symptoms and my hemoglobin levels. I am also interested in learning about the potential causes of abnormal hemoglobin levels. Based on my hemoglobin levels and symptoms, I would appreciate any recommendations or guidance you can provide to help me improve my hemoglobin levels and overall health.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

For your age, a hemoglobin level of 10 is low. The normal level would be from 12-14 g/dl. The symptoms you are experiencing are primarily typical of anemia, which is nothing but low hemoglobin. There are multiple reasons why anemia occurs. The most common being nutritional. The second most common is loss of blood, especially in menstruating females if their periods are heavy. Determining the underlying cause is very important to decide on the treatment plan. Hemoglobin alone does not suggest the underlying cause but indicates your anemia. Knowing the cause would make it easier to suggest or recommend something to improve the levels.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
