Does herpes labialis have the tendency to recur after four years?

Hi doctor,
I have a recurrence of herpes labialis after four years. Before four years, I had severe blisters on the lips with fever. But now, I have blisters alone. I was given Valacyclovir and Acyclovir before four years for the outbreak. Please suggest me what to do.

It is a viral infection caused by herpes simplex virus and it is characterized by painful blisters on the lips. It presents with fever, sore throat, or enlarged lymph nodes. These symptoms of recurrent episodes go away within one to two weeks without any treatment. These cold sores can occur frequently and the rate of appearance gets reduced when you become older. You can apply hot compresses on the cold sore or you can take painkillers like Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen, or Naproxen. You can also take antiviral medicines orally and you can apply antiviral cream on the blisters. Take care.
